Megapixel Great Information

a great camera, need some advice.?
Hi there,
well i’m a bit of an ammature, or well beginner photographer. I use one of those daily digital camera’s but now that i’m truely into it, i need a better and bigger camera, of great resolution and stuff lol. I’m no expert with camera’s so i need someone’s help here.
So what i’m looking for basically is some with great macro shooting, something with sport and over all a great megapixel. I’m only a bigginer so nothing too too like pricey and fancy, simple and yeah. Any ideas what kind i should get, i live in Canada, and their are certain stores here so i would like a link of the suggestion thanks. ![]()
oh and p.s. i’m looking for someone who’s a daily photographer who can give me some good pointers and tips.
Thanks in advance!
First of all megapixels are not important. Even a 6mp DSLR will blow away any images taken on a 12mp P&S. When you are buying a DSLR you should only be concerned with sensor size (APS-C, Full Frame and Olympus 4/3). Read this link on the Megapixel Myth for more info..
http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/mpmyth.htm
The chances are that you will likely go for an APS-C sensor DSLR such as entry level or semi-pro Nikon, Canon, Fujifilm, Pentax or Sony models. Olympus has the 4/3rds system which is excellent but the sensors are slightly smaller than APS-C. Be aware that buying a camera such as this will require you to learn how to use it properly, there is no point in spending money on a DSLR and just using the Auto settings, you are wasting your time and money that way. You are going to have to learn about aperture, shutter speeds, ISO, white balance, metering etc.. This is not something you will pick up overnight, it will take years to learn properly and even then you will never stop learning.
You will also require several different lenses for the types of photography you need to do, and the good quality lenses will end up costing more than your camera body alone. Please bear this in mind before you purchase. Macro lenses are around £300+, sports lenses (good ones) will set you back £1000-4000.
Ready to take the plunge?… OK then..
When choosing a camera do not make your decision on people shouting out models on an internet site such as this. Purchasing a camera is a very personal decision, please do not listen to anybody shouting out their particular brand/camera, that is just biased and will not help you at all. You need to go into a store with a budget in mind and handle all of the bodies within that budget. They ALL produce amazing images, they are ALL capable of that so please pay no attention to people who say “Nikon/Canon/Pentax etc.. are the best”.. There is no such thing as the “best” camera.
When handling the bodies you need to decide a few things.. Is it too small?, too big?, too light, too heavy?, too cheap feeling?, is the grip comfy?, do you like the button layout?, do you like the menu system?. etc.. Whichever camera feels the most comfortable to you to hold should be the one that you choose, it really is as simple as that!. I chose Canon simply because I preferred the button layout!, and that’s it!, others prefer Nikons, Pentax’s etc.. You would not thing of buying a car on a recommendation without taking one for a test drive first would you?, you may not like the positioning of the gear stick, hate the indicator lever or whatever.. The same applies for cameras. Choosing a system is tricky because you are pretty much married to it, swapping systems later on is a very costly thing to do (I know of only a handful of people who have done this), choose wisely!.
I hope that this has been some help.
